Génome Québec is proud to highlight the funding of two innovative projects totaling $9.6M in Québec, as part of a strategic investment aimed at accelerating the commercialization and adoption of genomic and biotechnology-based solutions. These projects address urgent challenges in health and aquaculture and showcase Québec’s leadership in applied research.
Revolutionizing Protein Quantification
The SysQuan project, led by McGill University, the University of Manitoba and MRM Proteomics, aims to transform biomedical research through a next-generation, more precise and affordable proteomics platform.
More Resilient Oysters, a Safer Future for the Industry
A project led by Université Laval, in partnership with L’Étang Ruisseau Bar Ltée, is working to develop oysters naturally more resistant to the MSX disease, which threatens Eastern Canada’s shellfish industry.
These initiatives are supported through Canada’s Genomics Strategy, with over $18M in total investment nationwide — including $9.6M invested in Québec, backed by the Government of Canada (via Genome Canada) and regional genome centres.
