The Genomics Innovation to Commercialization Program (IGC Program) supports research and development projects aimed at transforming genomic research into tangible commercial applications. The program fosters collaboration between research institutions and Québec companies to drive innovation and economic growth.
Program Objectives
- Accelerate the development of innovative genomics-based innovations
- Facilitate faster commercialization
- Enhance the competitiveness of Québec companies
- Promote collaboration between Québec companies and public research centers
Eligible Partners
Each project must include at least:
- A receptor: A Québec for-profit company (startup, SME or large enterprise) with a clear commercial interest in developing and bringing a research concept or project to market.
- A researcher: affiliated with an eligible Québec institution (university, CCTT, research institute, hospital, or nonprofit organization with an explicit research mandate).
- Optional partners: financial partners, co-investigators, collaborators, or others contributing complementary expertise or resources.
Funding Details
- Total project budget: from $300,000 to $900,000 (or more, depending on the project)
- Co-funding structure per project:
- Genome Canada: up to one-third (1/3) of the total project budget. This contribution must be equal to or less than that of the private sector partner(s), and range from $100,000 to $300,000.
- Private for-profit sector: a contribution of at least one-third (1/3) of the total project, in cash and/or in-kind if incurred in Québec.
- Génome Québec: up to one-third of eligible expenses in incurred in Québec, with a contribution ranging from $100,000 to $300,000.
Genome Canada funds may be allocated to the academic partner, as well as to the receptor (up to 20% for Québec companies with 99 employees or fewer.
Génome Québec funds are allocated exclusively to the academic partner.
- Maximum project duration: 2 years
Application Process
All teams must submit a complete application via the Génome Québec application portal by September 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (ET)
Project start date: no latter than March 31, 2027.
