The Genomics Innovation to Commercialization Program (IGC Program) supports research and development projects aimed at transforming genomic research into tangible commercial applications. The program focuses on fostering collaboration between research institutions and Quebec companies to drive innovation and economic growth.
Program Objectives
- Accelerate the development of innovative genomics-based innovations
- Facilitate faster commercialization
- Enhance the competitiveness of Quebec companies
- Promote collaboration between Quebec companies and public research centers
Eligible Partners
Each project must include at least:
- A receptor: A Quebec for-profit company (startup, SME or large enterprise) with a commercial interest in developing and applying a genomics-based solution.
- A researcher: affiliated with an eligible academic or research institution in Quebec (university, CCTT, research institute, hospital, or nonprofit with a research mandate).
- Optional partners: Co-investigators, collaborators, or others contributing complementary expertise or resources.
Funding Details
- Total project budget: between $300,000 and $900,000, or more
- Co-funding structure:
- Genome Canada: funding equal to or less than the contribution from private sector partner(s), with a minimum of $100,000.
- Complimentary co-funding: minimum 1:2 ratio (Genome Canada versus all other eligible sources). The co-funding can be in cash and/or in-kind if provided within Canada.
- Génome Québec: additional funding between $100,000 and $300,000 for eligible expenses incurred in Québec
Funds from Genome Canada and Génome Québec may only be allocated to the academic institution to cover project-related expenses.
- Maximum project duration: 2 years
Application Process
All teams must submit a complete application via the Génome Québec application portal by October 1, 2025, at 11:59 p.m (ET)
Selected project must begin no latter than March 31, 2026.
