Martin Godbout, Chair of the Board, is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to the Génome Québec Board of Directors. The Board team is proud to have the support of high-calibre professionals with experience in varied fields, including finance, agrifood and the pharmaceutical industry.
François R. Roy has extensive experience as a corporate director and executive in the public and private sectors, on boards of various non-profit organizations and in academia. He has worked for the Société générale de financement du Québec and subsequently as Chief Financial Officer for Québecor, Avenor and Telemedia Corporation. He has also served on boards of directors since 1998 and currently sits on the board of Transcontinental, Noranda Income Fund, Capstone Infrastructure Corporation, Ovivo Inc. and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. From 2007 to 2010, he was the Chief Financial Officer at McGill University. Mr. Roy holds a Master of Business Administration.
Suzanne Vinet launched her public service career in 1984 at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where she gained extensive experience in strategic and trade policy. In recent years, she has held several senior positions, including Deputy Minister at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (2012-2014), President at Canada Economic Development for Québec Regions (2010-2012) and Associate Deputy Minister at Health Canada (2007-2009). Ms. Vinet holds a Bachelor of Arts (economics).
Dr. Brian White-Guay, a medical specialist by training, joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1984 as Director of Clinical Research, first for Ayerst in Montréal then, in 1986, for Merck Frosst in Kirkland. In 1992, he was named Merck’s Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Europe, in Brussels. Then in 2004, he served as Merck’s Vice President responsible for all clinical operations and medical departments located around the world. He joined the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal as a professor in 2008 and has been a member of AmorChem’s Investment Committee since 2011.
The arrival of these new members on the Génome Québec Board of Directors constitutes an asset that will help accelerate the discovery of new applications in the strategic sectors of health, forestry, the environment and agrifood. “We want to be on the cutting edge of what is happening in genomic research in Québec and Canada. The recruitment of such qualified, seasoned professionals will certainly go a long way toward helping us reach that goal. We are fortunate to be able to count on Board Members with such significant expertise and knowledge,” Martin Godbout said.
