We are pleased to inform you that Genome Canada has partnered with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research  (CIHR) on an ongoing funding call entitled the Canadian 2019 Novel Coronavirus Rapid Research Funding Opportunity.

This funding opportunity is part of Government of Canada’s global effort to address the public health challenges of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Genome Canada will provide up to $250,000 over two years to projects relevant to genomics.

For an application to be eligible to receive funding from Genome Canada, the proposal must:

        • include genomics approaches as essential components in terms of importance to the overall outcomes of the project; or
        • address research into the implications of genomics in society from the perspective of the social sciences and humanities.

CIHR is using an expedited process for this review to have the outcomes of the research applied as quickly as possible. CIHR will be the Lead Partner in this program and as such will be responsible for the management of the application and review process. Exceptionally, applications will not be required to be submitted through Genome Canada’s regional Genome Centres.

Applications are due on February 18, 2020.

Anticipated notice of decision will be by February 28, 2020.

Interested researchers are encouraged to read the summary report of the WHO Forum.
