{"id":16784,"date":"2019-11-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-25T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/genomequebec.com\/actualites-et-publications\/call-for-collaboration-program-ai-in-genomics\/"},"modified":"2019-11-25T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-25T05:00:00","slug":"call-for-collaboration-program-ai-in-genomics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genomequebec.com\/en\/news-and-publications\/call-for-collaboration-program-ai-in-genomics\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for collaboration : Program AI in genomics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>AI in Genomics program<\/em> is a 12-week training that will allow participants to get hands-on experience in working with machine learning.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by the city of Montr\u00e9al, with support from Mila \u2013 Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute and IVADO (Institut de valorisation des donn\u00e9es), the <em>AI in Genomics program<\/em>\u00a0will help to prepare participants with expertise in genomics to develop a foundational knowledge of advanced machine learning methodologies so that they can develop a better understanding of where and how these techniques could be used with genomics data.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of this training, participants will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analyze genomics papers that use machine learning.<\/li>\n<li>Understand Machine Learning data structures and tools.<\/li>\n<li>Identify the best methodologies to address genomic questions.<\/li>\n<li>Propose a potential application of machine learning within a genomic project.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the ethics issues relating to Artificial Intelligence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As the program is designed for the participants to get hands-on experience, we are asking for genomics researchers\u2019 collaboration in obtaining datasets that could be used for the training. As a thank you for your support, at the end of the program, we will make all the developed models available to you and facilitate their subsequent validation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requested Datasets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The datasets we would like to have access to must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be large enough so that non-linear (deep learning, etc.) machine learning models can be used (minimum of 100,000 data points)<\/li>\n<li>Datasets where deep learning has been successfully used (since they will be used for educational purposes)<\/li>\n<li>Preferably datasets which could have commercial applications<\/li>\n<li>Datasets must be available for the duration of the program (12 weeks)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are interested in participating or for questions: <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:aigenomics@d3center.ca\"><strong>aigenomics@d3center.ca<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/d3center.typeform.com\/to\/us6BRK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">To register<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AI in Genomics program is a 12-week training that will allow participants to get hands-on experience in working with machine learning.
