Hudson to the G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec Board of Directors. The appointment was unanimously approved at the last general assembly. \u201cGiven the current shift in the life sciences business model, Dr. Hudson\u2019s contribution will be pivotal to G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s development and growth. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work together again on bringing the benefits of genomics to the community,\u201d Martin Godbout explained.<\/p>\n<p>A Saguenay native, Dr. Hudson is President and Scientific Director of the Ontario Institute for Cancer and professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. A fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, he is internationally renowned by his peers for his work in genomics. He is editor-in-chief of the journal Human Genetics and has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Dr. Hudson founded the McGill University and G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec Innovation Centre, which he managed from 2002 to 2006. He also served as Assistant Director of the Whitehead\/MIT Center for Genome Research. Moreover, Dr. Hudson was one of the founders of the International HapMap Consortium, the Public Population Project in Genomics (P3G) and the International Cancer Genome Consortium. His current research work involves the study of genome variations that affect cancer predisposition, progression and response to therapy, with his main focus being on the genetic <br \/>architecture associated with the risk for colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dr. Hudson, Qu\u00e9bec is home to exceptional researchers who rank among the world\u2019s best. \u201cHaving experienced it for myself, I understand the major impact an organization like G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec can have on a researcher\u2019s career. Qu\u00e9bec is looking to enter the era of personalized medicine, which will place genomics at the centre of its strategic priorities.
