This one million dollars funding opportunity aims to bring together researchers from different disciplines to discover or develop&nbsp;<strong>innovative therapies<\/strong>&nbsp;that support the following objectives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Addressing the needs of people living with a hereditary ataxia from the group of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lacaf.org\/en\/research\/research-grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ataxias covered by Ataxia Canada<\/a>. Under this request for applications, Muscular Dystrophy Canada aims to finance studies on Friedreich\u2019s ataxia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting the discovery and development of novel therapies using omics approaches (including those to alter the function of one or several genes).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encouraging multidisciplinary research in Quebec, to benefit research on hereditary ataxias.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more details on the competition requirements, please see the request for applications document below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Funding Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research teams will develop a research program with concrete activities and deliverables, enabling discovery or development of an innovative therapy for a hereditary ataxia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program will finance projects with a total budget&nbsp;from $165,000 up to $330,000 each&nbsp;(no co-funding required).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All applicants must submit their application through G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec.
