Génome Québec congratulates Prof. Sylvain Moineau who was awarded the prestigious 2019 Prix du Québec Marie-Victorin for his outstanding career and his contribution to genomics.

A professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Bioinformatics at Université Laval and Canada Research Chair in Bacteriophages, Sylvain Moineau has made an outstanding contribution to the development of the genome editing technology called CRISPR-Cas9.

Daniel Coderre, President and CEO of Génome Québec, says: «Through his fundamental role in this molecular revolution, Sylvain Moineau has paved the way for many genomic advances in fields as varied as medicine and agriculture. He is a world-renowned specialist in bacteriophages and is regularly cited as one of the most influential scientists in his field of research.
