Génome Québec is proud to participate in the synthetic biology workshop – New horizons for synthetic biology research, public policy and industry – that will be held at Concordia University, October 27 and 28, 2014. The workshop is an opportunity for Canadian and British scientists to discuss the developement of this leading sector. 

This intitiative from the Consulate General of the United Kingdom, in collaboration with Génome Québec, the FRQNT, the FRQS, the Université de Montréal and Concordia University, will bring together government agencies and funding organizations in Canada for whom synthetic biology should be a major investment and policy priority.

The goals of the workshop are:

  • To put a spotlight on emerging synthetic biology research in Canada
  • To situate that research in relation to leading centres and initiatives in the UK and the US
  • To identify pathways to commercialization involving both large-scale industries and small to medium enterprises
