The President and CEO of Génome Québec, Daniel Coderre, applauds Ottawa’s decision to invest $40 million in research on sequencing the genomes of the virus and of patients to better understand the behaviour and evolution of the virus, as well as the different immune reactions by patients. The initiative is part of a $1 billion package of measures announced today by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in support of medical research into COVID-19.
In the past twenty years, Génome Québec has built a solid reputation, and today it is recognized for its expertise in genomics and its quality technological services. “We are waiting for information on the distribution of these funds and are currently in discussion with the Québec public health laboratory to establish the collaborative plan on initiating the sequencing work,” said Daniel Coderre.
